Baghouse Dust Collector Periodic Inspections
Daily
- Walk through the baghouse area to check for normal or abnormal visual and audible conditions.
- Check the pressure drop.
- Monitor the gas flow rate.
- Check the cleaning cycle.
- Check compressed air and water traps on pulse jet baghouses.
- Monitor the discharge system by making sure dust is removed as needed.
- Observe the stack plume opacity.
Weekly
- Spot check bag seating conditions.
- Spot check for bag leaks and holes.
- Check all moving parts on shaker baghouses.
- Check fans for corrosion and blade wear.
- Check all hoses and clamps.
- Inspect the baghouse housing for corrosion.
Monthly
- Spot-check bag tensioning in reverse air and shaker baghouses.
- Blow out (clear) the manometer or magnehelic lines.
- Verify the working order of temperature-indicating equipment.
- Check the compressed air lines, including line oilers and filters.
- Check the bag cleaning sequence to see that all valves are seating properly.
- Check all moving parts on the discharge system and check the screw conveyor bearings.
- Check the drive components on all fans.
Quarterly
- Thoroughly inspect all filter bags.
- Calibrate the opacity monitor.
- Check gaskets on all doors and ducts.
- Inspect the paint on the baghouse and note corrosion.
- Inspect the baffle plate for wear.
- Observe the dampers for proper seating.
- Check the ducts for dust buildup.
Annually
- Check all welds and bolts.
- Check the hoppers for wear.
- Replace high-wear parts on the cleaning system.
Wet Scrubber Periodic Inspections
Daily
- Check recycle flow
- Check bleed flow
- Measure temperature rise across motor
- Check fan and pump bearings every 8 hours for oil level, oil color, oil temperature, and vibration
- Check scrubber pressure drop
- Check pump discharge pressure
- Check fan inlet and outlet pressure
- Check slurry bleed concentration
- Check vibration of fan for buildup or bleeds
- Record inlet and saturation temperature of gas stream

Weekly
- Check wet/dry line areas for material buildup. Clean, if necessary
- Check liquid spray quantity and manifold pressure on mist eliminator automatic wash down
- Inspect fans on dirty applications for corrosion, abrasion, and particulate buildup
- Check bearings, drive mechanisms, temperature rise, sprocket alignment, sprocket wear, chain tension, oil level, and clarifier rakes
- Check ductwork for leakage and excessive flexing, Line or replace as necessary
- Clean and dry pneumatic lines associated with monitoring instrumentation
Semiannually
- Verify accuracy of instruments and calibrate
- Inspect orifice plates
- Clean electrical equipment, including contacts, transformer insulation, and cooling fans
- Check and repair wear zones in scrubbers, valves, piping, and ductwork
- Lubricate damper drive mechanisms and bearings
- Verify proper operation of dampers and inspect for leakage
